I didn't know what title to choose for my first writing, after trying a couple I opted for this one, simple and intuitive.
Those two super tanned in the photo are us, Gianluca and Silvia (that is, me) I looked for a photo where we looked almost cool :-) the sea and the sun work miracles.
A few months ago Gianluca decided to add this blog to the site, but up until now I hadn't set foot in it, partly because most of my thoughts come to me at night before falling asleep (if I manage to fall asleep) and partly because I always say to myself: "what does the others care?!"...
Anyway, in the end I decided to write, it will certainly serve as therapy, maybe the thousand thoughts that swirl around in my head during the night will vanish.
So let's start from here....
My name is Silvia and a few weeks ago I turned 44, 44, yes 44... I always wonder where the last 26 years have gone.
I have always been a recycler, or at least since I can remember, and I am also a bit of a hoarder, yes because basically you have to accumulate a bit to recycle.
When I was little and I went to visit my uncles I had the ability to always come home with something (to the delight of my mother) ribbons, little boxes, the tulle that wrapped the confetti of the wedding favors, paper bags, gift bows....
Recycling bows and gift paper has remained a constant throughout all this time, in addition to recycling newspapers, paper flyers and a thousand other things.
At the beginning or maybe even now people smile at this thing, I am the one who wraps gifts with newspaper, well yes, I have been doing it for 30 years and I will continue to do it.
My uncles (who I always considered my second parents) both did manual work, he was a tiler (with hobbies in gardening, carpentry and cement) and she was a seamstress (for me a great seamstress), she sewed silk dresses with such ease that even today I wonder how she did it.
When they were alive (unfortunately they both left us 7 years ago within a few months of each other) we always joked about the fact that my uncle should have left me the box where he did his work with all his gadgets and my aunt her inseparable Pfaff sewing machine from the 70s.
Now every time I sew in her old room, with her sewing machine and her threads I always think of her, I feel like I've gone back in time, I feel like I've gone back to those fantastic 80s.
Speaking of the sewing machine, in the phase of painting and modernizing anything I can get my hands on, I decided to give a fresh coat of black paint to the cabinet too.
A couple of coats of cementite, a couple of blackboard paint and a couple of matt resin made it perfect :-).
See you soon, Silvia
